13 February 2016   Comments Off on Dan to star in ‘Jungle’

Dan is set to star in a new thriller entitled ‘Jungle’. He has confirmed the news himself on his official Google+ account. Read what he had to say below:

I’m incredibly excited and honoured to have a role in furthering people’s awareness of what happened to Yossi Ghinsberg, Kevin Gale and Markus Stamm. Their story is a truly remarkable one that sheds light on both harrowing and hopeful aspects of human nature. It should be a very intense and physical shoot (obviously we wouldn’t be doing our jobs if it wasn’t) and I can’t wait to start work on it. -Dan

16 January 2016   Comments Off on 2016 Sundance Film Festival

Swiss Army Man is one of the films lined up for viewing at this year’s big film festival. Here is a short synopsis from Indiewire. Written by Eric Kohn.

This U.S. competition entry stars Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe in a drama featuring a man who finds a dead body in the wilderness and forms a strange bond with it. With name actors and the seemingly familiar formula of the survivalist drama, this one might sound familiar. But there’s more going on here. Writer-directors Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan make their feature-length debut here, but have steadily developed a following in the music video world for several years. Their 2010 video for The Hundred and The Hands infamously features vomiting fireworks and other disorienting developments in one girl’s depraved night; their short film, “Interesting Ball,” focuses on the unlikely exploits of a bouncing red ball that spends the day at the beach.

In essence, they’ve already crafted a brand as unorthodox storytellers, and “Swiss Army Man” is poised to continue that trend. Sales agents are reportedly keeping the film on wraps while generating buzz, but Cooper described the filmmakers as “visionaries who take no prisoners,” adding that “it’s a really wild film that I hope creates both confusion and excitement.” —EK

16 January 2016   Comments Off on RIP Alan Rickman, Dan’s tribute

It was a sad day on Thursday, we lost the great actor Alan Rickman to Cancer. Many of the Harry Potter actors wrote tributes to him and here is Dan’s from his Google+ account.

Alan Rickman is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with. He is also, one of the loyalest and most supportive people I’ve ever met in the film industry. He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter. I’m pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn’t have to do that. I know other people who’ve been friends with him for much much longer than I have and they all say “if you call Alan, it doesn’t matter where in the world he is or how busy he is with what he’s doing, he’ll get back to you within a day”.

People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner(or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass.

As an actor he was one of the first of the adults on Potter to treat me like a peer rather than a child. Working with him at such a formative age was incredibly important and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career. Film sets and theatre stages are all far poorer for the loss of this great actor and man.
